Specialist in service

At the BWS ServiceCenter, strips of stainless and high-carbon steel, nickel-based and titanium alloys can be slit on precision strip shears from a strip width of 2.00 mm and a thickness of 0.03 mm. Additional requirements such as sophisticated edge trimming or special finishes are implemented according to customer specifications.

Narrow strip

BWS precision slitting machines with exact plunge depths and kerf settings enable the narrowest dimensions from a strip width of 2.00 mm for both standard and special grades. Even with dimensions in the extreme range and high run length, BWS realizes the narrowest width and thickness tolerances over the entire strip length and a reduced ring bend.

Narrow strip is required for a wide variety of applications in the automotive industry, in telecommunications, e.g. for the production of superconductors, or in medical technology, among other things for the production of hypodermic needles.

Thin strip

Strip thicknesses between 0.03 mm and 0.50 mm in widths up to 420.00 mm are cut on precision strip shears specially designed for BWS. Strip thicknesses below 0.03 mm are possible on customer request. BWS slits stainless, acid and heat-resistant steels as well as nickel-based and titanium alloys in the foil area. Coils of up to 10 t with a maximum outside diameter of 2000 mm can be processed, reaching a run length of up to 80 km with low strip thickness.

Innovative technologies and sustainability aspects demand always thinner and more precisely rolled strips with long run length. Thin strip or foil is used for the production of fuel cells, superconductors and OLED displays, among other applications. The reduced insert thickness results in weight, energy and cost savings.

Special edges

As a specialist in the markets of edge trimming, BWS has extensive expertise and access to state-of-the-art processing equipment.

According to customer requirements, geometries are produced in right-angled, sharp-edged and rounded designs, combinations of these geometries are possible. On request, BWS realizes defined rounded edge designs with customer-specific angle specifications, for example 45° / 30° (one-sided) from 1000 MPa.

If a defined cutting burr is required for further processing, for example as a welding filler, this can also be implemented.

Multiring

A multi-ring consists of various individual rings which are welded together lying on a pallet so that the entire ring stack can be unwound without interruption. Manual feeding of individual rings is no longer necessary. Due to the packaging form Multiring, a run length of up to 20 times the length of the individual rings can be achieved.

Delivery form Multiring suitable for

Stainless steels, Nickel-based alloys, Titanium, High-Carbon steel (C-Steel)

Spools

Maximum ORD (outer ring diameter) is required for setup time-optimized production. If the run length of a single ring is not sufficient, the run length can be multiplied by welding individual rings to form coils.

Pack Wrapping

Especially with thicker strip dimensions from 0.90 mm, pack-wound coils increase productivity. Longer production runs are made possible by welded individual rings.

Bars and blanks

After splitting and before cross-cutting, the strip is straightened or the ring bend is eliminated. BWS produces bars with very good flatness properties while maintaining the tightest length tolerances in lengths up to 8 m.
